  • We,the Foundation Center and the European Foundation Centre, are counting on you –a community of practitioners actively engaged in strengthening the craft of grantmaking –to help us keep GrantCraft to continue to be the valued asset to the field. Spread the word please. GrantCraft is hiring! We have two director positions available one at the Foundation Center in New York (http://foundationcenter.org/about/jobs/dir_grantcraft.html) and one at the European Foundation Centre in Brussels (http://www.efc.be/News/Pages/GrantCraftDirectorforEurope.aspx).

  • Thanks for the shout out about GrantCraft’s transition,Jessica. And it makes my heart sing to see JuWon’s call to colleagues to keep GrantCraft for grantmakers/by grantmakers. I hope you will join in this endeavor. The first thing you can do is help both organizations find directors to run GrantCraft. Spread the word!
As the founder of GrantCraft I wanted to make this transition as transparent and collaborative as possible —taking a page from our guide on running RFPs and Competitions,of course! The Ford Foundation generously led a competitive process with a grants award for the future of GrantCraft. Proposals were reviewed by Hewlett,Packard,Gates and Kellogg as well as Ford. My colleagues at these foundations put in many person-hours looking at bids and proposals and giving me honest and valuable feedback. On the craft side,I recommend this process for going from the founder to next era. We all learned a lot. The openness of the process, inviting others to give me their feedback on proposals, and the variety of responses we received really helped me ‘go to the balcony’and look at possibilities with new eyes. Keep an eye on GrantCraft as it becomes even more of a go-to resource for learning the craft of grantmaking.
